National Success for Local Students

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

Oldbury Wells achieves National Top 10 ranking.

We were thrilled at Oldbury Wells last week to read the national Sixth Form League Tables. We were aware that our students had done well and especially so in the Applied Courses. However, when league tables were published, it was revealed that Oldbury Wells was ranked 7th in the national tables. Applied courses are the equivalent to A Levels, however they are in work-related areas such as Business Studies.

"We achieved some very impressive results last year," explained Miss Thomas, Principal Deputy. "In 2017, our A Level progress scores placed us 2nd in Shropshire and our Applied courses were ranked first in Shropshire. This year our A Level results place us a respectable third for state providers. However our Applied course results place is first in Shropshire and seventh nationally!"

Students achieved an average score of Distinction Star in their Applied courses last year at Oldbury Wells, with an average of 40.94 per qualification.

Last term we announced the launch of the Bridgnorth Sixth Form and increased the number of Applied and A Level courses that we offer in our expanded sixth form.
