Oldbury Wells Awarded Safer Schools Accreditation

Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Safer Schools accreditation

Oldbury Wells is the latest school in Shropshire to celebrate their accreditation as a ‘Safer School’. In recognition of our accreditation, Shropshire Council Chairman, Ann Hartley, presented a certificate and a plaque to students and staff during a special assembly held this week. Councillor Ann Hartley congratulated us on our achievement and emphasised the importance of the scheme. The Safer School scheme is an active policy and illustrates a school’s responsible approach towards ensuring a safer and more secure environment for its pupils, staff and visitors. Part of our involvement in the scheme includes establishing a ‘Safer School Group’ with representatives from Oldbury Wells. This Group reviews security and safety and is supported by Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police. Mr Bartlett said, “Oldbury Wells School has been thorough with its Safer School Group and the school continues to monitor and review safety and security. To continue the Safer Schools process, the school will be holding an annual Safer School Group meeting and the certificate is updated every two years”

Lisa Thomas, Principal Deputy, said, “We are thrilled to have received this award as recognition of the continuous work we do in reviewing systems in school and our school site in order to ensure Oldbury Wells provides school security and personal safety for all.”
