As a school, we have invested in Unifrog; an online careers platform that consolidates all available information for young people together in one place, and is accessible from Year 7 through to Year 13. Unifrog can help you to make informed decisions about your future, complete profiles and activities to develop your skill set, and when the time comes, provide guidance and support in submitting UCAS or other applications.

Furthermore, our careers programme is tailored to each year group, to help with professional development and skills. You can view our careers ladder opposite to find out more information.

In school we have our own careers adviser, Melanie Lawrence, who is available every Wednesday for one-to-one appointments. You can find her in the careers room, contact her via email: mlawrence@williambrookes.com, or follow her Twitter for up to date careers information: @melcareers.

Work Experience

A great way to star career planning or thinking about what you want to do in the future is to do some work experience. Spending some time working for a company will give you an insight into what different jobs are about, help you to build connections for later in life, and give you opportunities to write about on your CV.

Spring Pod is a great site for virtual experience: https://www.springpod.co.uk/virtual-work-experience

GoThinkBig also have lots of ideas for experience at large companies: https://gothinkbig.co.uk/tag/work-experience

A lot of the time it is worth getting in touch with a company if you have one in mind to see if they would be willing to offer experience. Some companies such as the NHS or the BBC have work experience schemes that you can apply to.
