Good luck message from Mr Tristham

I had the privilege to be in school last week when the Class of 2020 came into school to collect their results.

Dear Parent / Carer,

Re : Good luck message from Mr Tristham.

I had the privilege to be in school last week when the Class of 2020 came into school to collect their results (http://www.oldburywells.com/news/congratulations-to-our-year-11-students) It was a real pleasure to speak to many young people (alongside parents), hearing how they have been coping over the last five months, alongside the strength and resilience shown while waiting for results day to arrive.  Despite the issues raised regarding how nationally results have been processed, sharing their excitement in collecting their results was a real joy.  Although organised very differently, seeing the emotion from all those who were confident with their results; who in addition had a clear plan for the next steps in their education, was great to see.

I was delighted to hear from many who will be returning to Bridgnorth Sixth Form to follow in the footsteps of those who completed their studies with us this year.  As you will have seen, year 13 have moved on to many different university destinations including Oxford and Cambridge (http://www.bridgnorthsixthform.com/news/well-done-to-our-students) ready for the next stage of their education.  I was thrilled to hear that initial feedback showed all our students who applied to go to university got into their first choice, congratulations to all.  In addition, a special mention to Annabel Martin (on achieving 4A* grades) who has secured a place at Oxford where she will read physics who will be joined in Oxford by Mia Clement who is reading Geography.  Also Paddy Russell (on his 3A* and an A) which secured his place at Cambridge.

I feel very proud to be joining a school which provides the support, encouragement and quality of education which helps young people achieve so highly.  This, alongside the commitment shown by all young people across the school at such a challenging time puts us all in a strong position moving forward.

Can I use this opportunity to wish all of the schools Year 11 leavers the very best in what they go on to achieve.  I very much look forward to further meeting those who are returning to us and sharing their journey with them.  For those who are moving on elsewhere, I wish you good luck while welcoming the opportunity to hear of your continued success in the future; remember we are always here to speak with and give any support should it be needed.

A reminder that on Tuesday 1st of September our 6th Form team will be in school should you wish to further consider following courses with us; please feel free to come into school or make contact for any further advice and guidance (april.bishell@oldburywells.com).

Congratulations to all, wishing you the very best!
