Alan Edwards

Board Appointed Governor (Chair)

Alan moved to the West Midlands to attend university, obtaining a BSc in Business and an MSc in Computing. Over the past thirty years, he has held a variety of technical roles within the IT industry, and for the past nine years, has primarily worked with large global enterprise companies. Alan is the father of two children, both of which have attended Oldbury Wells, with the youngest being a current pupil. Having spent several years as a governor at a local primary school, he joined Oldbury Wells School as a parent governor in 2018. He is passionate about the school’s aims to provide the best education and experience for all pupils, enabling them to gain the key skills needed for their successful futures. In his spare time, Alan enjoys training with a local taekwondo club and supporting his local community.

Andrew Oliver

Co-Opted Governor (Vice chair)

Andrew has a passion for education at all levels and wants to ensure that pupils attending Oldbury Wells get the most from their time at the school - academically, developmentally and emotionally.  Andrew is also a Parent Governor at Castlefields Primary School within our Trust.

Professionally, Andrew has been a Physiotherapist for over 20 years after qualifying from Coventry University in 2002.  He now also manages NHS Pain and Musculoskeletal Services across the West Midlands.  Outside of work and Andrew is the Deputy Chair and a Trustee for Northgate Swimming Club, as well as helping out on poolside as a coach.  Andrew is the President of 8th Bridgnorth Scout Group where he was previously a leader for a number of years.

Connor Robinson

Board Appointed Governor

Connor is currently a Democratic Services Officer at Sandwell Council. Supporting the democratic function at the local level, Connor manages the Children’s Services and Education Scrutiny Board as well as the Licensing and Planning Committee. Connor whose role revolves around ensuring the governance and procedural arrangements are followed and enacted, is able to bring his eye for detail to the Governing Board. Connor began his career in Local Government at Bridgnorth Town Council where for several years he volunteered while he studied Politics and History at Wolverhampton University, and later International Relations at the University of Birmingham. Leaving university Connor worked for English Heritage becoming the site manager at Buildwas Abbey. Prior to starting at Sandwell Council, Connor participated in the Shropshire Council Graduate Programme where he undertook project work for among others, highways, adult social care and the SEND team. With his current work in Children’s Scrutiny and his previous work in SEND Connor can bring his knowledge of the challenges facing children and young people to the Board. When Connor is not working, he can be found practicing archery at his local club. An amateur baker he fancies himself as one day making it to the Bake-Off tent.

Geoff Baker

Board Appointed Governor

Now retired from a career in procurement and contract management, Geoff has lived in Bridgnorth for over 40 years. Both his children were educated at Oldbury Wells School where he has been a governor since 1996 including spells as Vice Chair and Chair. In 2015 he was one of the founding trustees of what is now the TrustED CSAT Multi Academy Trust with 9 schools across Shropshire and he continues to serve on the Board and chair it’s Audit Committee. He has also been Chair of the Local Governing Body at Alveley Primary School since it joined the Trust in 2016.

Julie Rose

Co-Opted Governor

Julie moved to Bridgnorth in 1989, shortly before the birth of her first child.  Both of her daughters attended Oldbury Wells through to Year 13 and her grandchild is now in Year 11.  Julie was previously a governor at OWS and served eight years as a non-executive director of Shropshire’s Mental Health Trust.  Her career has mostly been in IT, starting as a programmer working in the private sector and local government, before moving into project and programme management.  She is now an Associate Director with a global consultancy and on a large telecommunications account as a Programme Manager, currently specialising in Privacy and Security related projects.

In her spare time she is an avid reader and, after taking up Taekwondo 10 years ago alongside her grandchild, can safely say that it is never too late to try something new!

Charly Hoult

Parent Governor

Charly grew up just outside London and moved to the Midlands in 2004.  She has worked in education for 7 years as a School Business Manager.  Charly has two children who attend Oldbury Wells and Castlefields, and she joined the Oldbury Wells LGB as a parent governor in April 2025.

Charly became a parent governor to support the school’s ambition to provide an excellent education for all pupils and to work with school leaders to continually seek improvement.  Her experience as a School Business Manager has shaped her passion for supporting children and their families, ensuring they have the best possible start in life.

Both of Charly’s children thoroughly enjoy being part of the TrustEd schools and feel safe, supported and well cared for.  Charly is proud to join a team in which staff work hard to truly know their pupils and their families, enabling them to offer the best opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
