The Business Studies Department at Oldbury Wells aims to develop an understanding of business organisations and their role within the wider environment.
Pupils opting for Business Studies at Key Stage 4 will study the Edexcel GCSE Business Studies and will learn about how business ideas come about. They will investigate the skills required to be a successful entrepreneur and how new and innovative ideas help to develop the business. They will learn about the concept of added value and study the main functions of business organisations: marketing, production, human resources, and finance. Initially the focus is on small to medium size businesses. However, as we progress through the course, they will study larger multinational businesses building on previous knowledge and theory.
We are committed to ensuring that each pupil achieves the best possible grades whilst developing skills in teamwork, applying numeracy, communication, research, analysis and evaluation. Whether or not our pupils decide to continue their studies of Business into further or higher education, we hope that the transferable skills developed within the subject will provide a sound foundation for any future career.
At Key Stage 5, pupils at Oldbury Wells Sixth Form have the opportunity to study the Edexcel GCE in Business building on their experiences from Key Stage 4.
