WW1 Trip Blog - Day 2

World War I Battlefields Visit Day Two.

Today students have explored the Ypres Salient in Belgium. The day started with 'The Everyman's Club'-Talbot House. Where students chatted to the volunteers, played wartime songs on the piano, wondered through the gardens and competed at chess in the same way that British soldiers would have done over 100 years ago. Then on to the front lines. Students compared remembrance at the German cemetery to that at Tyn Cot the colossal British cemetery. The original trench networks were experienced at Sanctuary Wood at the end of the day. Our students were phenomenal at the 96th anniversary of the Last Post Ceremony, with Ellowyn, Bryce and Dylan superbly representing the school at the wreath laying.
